Nick Hasapes, MS, is a fourth-year doctoral student at Loyola University Maryland and a Registered Psychology Associate of Durwood Whitten, Ph.D. Nick graduated from the University of North Texas in 2021 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and earned a Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology at Loyola University Maryland.

While performing in orchestras and jazz ensembles, Nick was struck by the deep emotional connection that the listeners had with the music. Nick decided to delve more deeply into the study of how these emotions influence behavior. He studied the effects of various music genres on facial memory and evaluated the benefits of expressive writing in individuals with distress.

 

Nick’s clinical experience at Loyola entailed conducting individual psychotherapy and psychoeducational testing to adolescent and adult clients at the Loyola Clinical Centers. Nick

is currently completing his externship at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics, conducting neuropsychological assessments with children with various neurological and neurodevelopmental disorders.

Nick enjoys working witha diverse range of individuals and is dedicated to helping people thrive in various aspects of life. He believes in creating a safe and compassionate environment for individuals to explore their thoughts, emotions, and experiences without judgment. Nick values the importance of evidence-based treatment and establishes his therapeutic approach in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy while drawing from various evidence-based approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
